Win A Cookbook!

It’s been a while since we gave out a vegan cookbook. So, let’s give one out again!

To enter the contest, just leave a comment. Leave a comment here describing why you’d like a free vegan cookbook. Maybe you want a vegan cookbook so you can cook something tasty for your vegan partner. Maybe you want a vegan cookbook so you can try out vegan recipes and cut back your meat consumption. Maybe you want a vegan cookbook because even though you’re vegan, you don’t know how to cook. Whatever the reason, everyone should have a vegan cookbook!

The prize cookbook is My Sweet Vegan by Hannah Kaminsky.

Submissions are open until the end of May, 2011. June 1st or thereabouts I will randomly choose a winner and mail a cookbook to them. That means this: please use a valid email address when you fill out the comment form below!

  1. I want to bake delicious desserts not only for the people who I love but for all beings on planet Earth. Maybe, just maybe, I can help spread cruelty free life lessons.

  2. I would love this cookbook for both my vegan cooking class and to share with the (approx) 200 omnivore congregants at the Unitarian Universalist church.
I had 14 omnivores (+ 2 vegetarians) in my last vegan cooking class, and they were very excited to try healthier versions of their standard desserts as well as new recipes using new foods & combinations with which they were unfamiliar. This cookbook looks interesting to me because the recipes are inventive and imaginative.
A couple times a year, I provide vegan food for UU Social Hour that follows the service, for about 200 omnivorous (as well as a few veg*n) congregants. I usually have one table of books on animal agriculture & the environment; another table of books about the philosophical and moral issues addressing animal rights; and a third table of books about vegan nutrition and health, + some vegan cookbooks. But I don’t have a vegan cookbook for desserts! I would love to make a couple desserts from this cookbook, and then have the cookbook on display for the congregants, who are always asking me for my recipes.

  3. I would LOVE to win this cookbook! I am a vegan myself and have heard great reviews about this one in particular!!

  4. I’ve never been much of a cook or even a food lover growing up.
However, once I moved from the city to the woods, I’ve had to learn to feed myself.
Your site along with a few other vegan sites have helped me learn to enjoy preparing my vegan diet.

Wining the prize cookbook ‘My Sweet Vegan’ by Hannah Kaminsky would certainly increase my skills but what I really want to do is show others who are not vegan that this compassionate diet is not only just that, compassionate but healthy and very yummy. Vegans are not missing anything but bad Karma due to diet and choices.

Good luck to all of us.

ps. I love Vegan Soapbox’s Discussion Policy. ♥♥♥

  5. Just starting the path towards veganism and need some new recipes to keep me motivated! :)

  7. Good Morning from sunny southern Manitoba….thrilled to be able to enter, thanks! About 5 years ago through the power of the internet on animal abuse and my continual research into that subject…I finally GOT IT!!!! Eating animals and contributing to factory farming and animal abuse…is not something I participate in, anymore….yes indeed I GOT IT!

Therefore….I would be thrilled to receive this book….so I can share ‘the word’ with others…many thanks!

  8. Cookbooks are a must-have for delicious vegan cooking. I use the internet sometimes for cooking, but usually it’s the bending open of the spine, the propping the cookbook against a bowl or mug, the splatter of chocolate sauce from the last time that you made those show-stopping brownies that really pulls me in. I love cooking from a good cookbook, and knowing it’s 100% vegan lets me relax and sink into the recipe without having to worry about conversions and subsitutes the whole way. What a wonderful way to cook!

  9. I have been a vegetarian for 4 years. All of my vegetarian cookbooks seem to lean on the use of cheese and dairy quite a bit… I would like a vegan cookbook because I’d like to go vegan and I need some help!

  10. What a great-looking cookbook! I am always looking for new vegan recipes to convince my carnivorous friends and family how delicious vegan cooking/baking really is. I have opened some eyes already!

  11. I would love this cookbook. I don’t know how to bake and I would love to learn.

  12. I’ve managed to convince my friends and family that vegan food is not disgusting and bland but rather delicious and enjoyable. I do a lot of cooking for my friends and family and am always looking for new recipes to try.

  13. I would loooove to win as I have been vegetarian for the majority of my life, and have been trying to cut down on dairy/eggs the past few years.. I would love to try out some new recipes to help with that task!

  14. I would love to win this cookbook! As a relatively new vegan and cooker I need recipes because I have no idea how to ‘throw’ things together like many other people I know. I often eat with my non-vegan friends and family and want to try out new recipes to impress them:)

  15. I would love this cookbook because I love cooking. I have quite a few vegan cookbooks that have been accumulating since I became vegan over a year ago but I haven’t been baking as much as I would like. I need more vegan desserts in my repertoire!

  16. I’v been vegan for 13 years as well as my mother and my 4 year old daughter who I would really love to start making more homemade food for all of us it’s so hard to find vegan foods in my town as well as sweets and this cookbook looks amazing♥ -Zarah:)

  17. I had major reconstructive surgery on my neck and I am facing another one and due to the fact that I take medications for chronic nerve pain, I have recently turned Vegetarian as I want to focus more on my diet to possibly help relieve my pain naturally and to get the toxins out of my system from the meds I have been on. I am hoping surgery will correct my neck problem and the pain will go away. I need to eat super healthy and regain as much natural energy that I normally have in order to continue to give me strength to fight for the rights of animals, spare them from further abuse and to help with the adoption processes. This is my passion in life and despite my injury, I have devoted the rest of my life to help animals in any way I can. I also feel that this book would greatly benefit me in more ways than one and I would believe in it so much that it would motivate me to encourage others to also go Vegetarian/Vegan plus I would rave about what I ate because I know it is coming from one the best out there. Thank you for your time and good luck everyone!!!

  18. I’m a collector of Vegan and vegetarian cookbooks, but honestly have mostly vegetarian ones. I have a few friends whom are vegan or trying to be. It would be great to have a vegan cookbook, such as this one, to be able to feed them when I entertain my vegan friends. I would very much like to have this book. Thank You!

  19. I want a free cookbook because I’m flat broke! :)

  20. I was going to say I wanted one, just because, hey, free swag, but after reading Louisa Dell’Amico and Virka Skalij aka Katrina Kroneberg’s entries, I think I want one of them to win instead. Can I enter an extra raffle for one of them? :D

  21. I have a few vegan cookbooks but have not had a dessert one yet. Yummy! Love to cook for my non-vegan friends and open their eyes and tummies to the world of yummy vegan foods.

  22. I recently decided to become vegetarian and am thinking about transitioning to being completely vegan. One of my barriers is that I LOVE to bake and make desserts, but I don’t know much about substitutions for things like eggs and milk. It would be awesome to have a vegan cookbook to help me get started!

  23. I have been vegan for two years. I would love this book because I do not have a dessert-only cookbook yet! Also, my future mother-in-law recently went dairy-free and I would love to show her how to bake without harming any animal. She has a stand at a local farmers market and sells goodies.

  26. It’s been 4 months since I turned Vegan and I’m ALWAYS looking for new recipes and some guide lines for cooking. I don’t really know how to cook… but that’s ok I guess, this is what college students do… To be honest, I miss having a decent meal but I’m working on that; the othery day I made a vegan shepherd’s pie :D and let me tell you it was way more delicious than the original one.
What I miss the most in a vegan life style is the sweets!!!! I tried baking a vegan cake a while back and it was.. let’s just say that it was edible underneath the burned coat… I should clarify that it was my first home made cake. So I’d really love to win this cookbook, from the review I read, it sounds like it contains some awesome delicious pastry recipes!!!!

  27. I would love to win a vegan dessert cookbook! I started cooking out of necessity when I became a vegan, and discovered that I love it! I am always looking for new recipes and a new challenge, and sweets are a frontier that I have not yet conquered! My partner and my tummy will thank you!
