Why Vegan? Compassion For Animals

In honor of World Vegan Day vegans all over the world are being asked to tell their story.

Here’s mine:

adb

I became a vegan on May 1, 2009 for one reason: compassion for animals. I saw an incredibly moving and disturbing documentary on PETA’s website called “Meet Your Meat” and I was never the same. I never realized that every time I ate meat I was contributing to the horrific torture, abuse, suffering, and filthy conditions cows, pigs, chickens and turkeys endure in slaughterhouses and on factory farms. It changed me forever and now I no longer feel guilty when I eat a meal because I know that nothing on my plate gave up it’s life to sustain mine.

To all the vegans and vegetarians in the world I say thank you for your compassion for animals and I am honored to be among you.
