I am very relieved knowing the definition between vegan milk, etc. I also know for a fact that drinking too much coconut milk can lead to diarrhea. It is very rich and nourishing at that, but like the rule is, in moderation in all things. I am enjoying my vegan lifestyle and depend on various websites for education purpose and recipes. Great and healthy living to all who venture and succeed. I am total sold and happy!

I'm with Sarah on that...I use the term 'cows' milk' whenever I am not talking about plant-based milks. I think it's really important to reclaim the term 'milk', especially in view of the dairy industries' interest in keeping it for themselves.

I'm also fond of using 'cow's milk' as opposed to just 'milk' to differentiate. I think it's a good habit to get in to!

This was interesting Eccentric. I have actually never considered the definition of "milk," opting instead to separate "soy milk" from the concept "milk" as much as possible; soy juice for example. With this in mind, however, I have been wrong to do so. The initial definition is enlightening as well -- "serving for the nourishment of their young."

Whenever I use the word "COW'S- milk" to omni's they seem offended, like I'm trying to desturb them. They're the one's slaughtering cow's and pumping them pregnent to suck the milk from their hormone-laden tits! I feel HORRIBLE for dairy cows in particular (not that I don't for any slaughter house animal) because they are seen as "dumb, huge, ugly, useless creatures god put on earth for man". NEWSFLASH! Is it not obvious HUMANS are the ones over breeding them in refined and horrid conditions to use as thier own "food". What's wrong with non-dairy milk, if they gave it a shiot for at least a month, I bet many people would be hooked and free of allergies, asthma and even hate the aftertaste of that horrid "factory murdering animal's milk", I personally think the lactose is nasty. way to go! ;)
