Where Do You Get Your Protein?
Where do you get your protein? There are about a million ways to answer that question. And we’ve been over it before. But in case you weren’t in class that day, here are more answers to the question, “Where do you get your protein?”

Honest Answers to the question, “Where do you get your protein?”:
- Plants. I get my protein from a wide variety of vegan foods, such as, beans, nuts, rice, quinoa, tofu, blue-green algae, and other delicious, high-protein vegan foods.
- All whole foods have amino acids which our bodies convert into protein. Carrots, celery, potatoes, apples and other whole foods have amino acids in them. We do not have to restrict ourselves to nuts, seeds, and beans to get protein and we certainly do not need to eat animal products.
- Where do you get your fiber? Where do you get your anti-oxidants? Where do you get your beta-carotene and vitamin C?
- Well, since a proper adult human diet only requires 10-20% protein, it’s really not that hard to get enough on a vegan diet.
- Animal based protein sources are actually harmful to human health. They seem to play a role in the development of cancer. Plant based protein sources are better. So I choose to get my protein from plants.
- Most Americans get at least twice the recommended daily allowance of protein. And that’s a BAD thing. Too much protein could damage your liver and bones.
- Protein deficiency is very rare in the U.S. It is usually diagnosed in people living in places that are suffering from famine.
- Even if I ate only wheat, oatmeal, or potatoes, I’d get more than enough protein.
Honest, Yet Humorous Answers to the question, “Where do you get your protein?”:
- The grocery store.
- The same place you do. I get my protein from food.
- You know that foam at the top of a pint of beer? Well that’s protein. Protein is all over the place. So, don’t worry about me and my vegan diet. I get plenty of protein. Cheers!
- Not from someone who would beg for his or her life if given the chance, that’s for sure.
- Things that don’t feel pain.
- Stuff you’ve probably never heard of before.
- Sometimes Mexican restaurants, sometimes Italian. Indian is good, too.

My response:
“I’m one of the fortunate animals who don’t need any protein. Therefore, I can be a vegan because it is so difficult to find that damn protein. Lucky me — thanks evolution.”

I had a doctor (a DOCTOR!) ask me where I got my calcium from (after I told her I was vegan). I said, “The same place the cow does.”

The China Study basically states that the main cause of deadly western diseases is too much animal protein intake. When societies have a low percentage intake of animal protein, these diseases disappear.
Plant-based protein can provide all of your necessary protein and will protect your body from these unnecessary diseases.
From food, I like that answer.
I get most of my protein from protein shakes and it doesn’t hurt that it tastes really good
