What Do Dairy Farmers Love?
Animal Agri-business knows that the vegan trend is coming. They see veganism as a threat to their profits. Rather than phase out animal agriculture in favor of plant agriculture or other business, they are putting up a fight.
Here are some of their propaganda talking-points:
“Dairy Farmers Love Feeding Families. We are dedicated to providing you with fresh healthy milk.”
“Dairy Farmers Love the Land. We practice sustainable farming for a cleaner, greener New York.”
“Dairy Farmers Love Happy Cows. We know that the healthiest cows make the healthiest milk.”
“Dairy Farmers Love Strong Communities. We create jobs and drive growth in our local economies.”
“Dairy Farmers Love Family Tradition, 99 percent of New York dairies are family owned.” (source)
We have to refute these myths before they sink into the public consciousness. So let’s all give it a go in our blogs and other websites. Let’s destroy these myths and replace them with the truth:
Animal agriculture is a dirty business that’s bad for animals, bad for the environment, and bad for human health.
Here are some ideas:
“Dairy Farmers Hate Feeding Families. They are fanatical at stealing fresh healthy cow’s milk away from baby calves.”
“Dairy Farmers Hate the Land. They practice unsustainable farming.”
“Dairy Farmers Love Happy Accountants. They know that the biggest profit makes the happiest accountant.”
“Dairy Farmers Love Polluting Communities and Stealing Resources. They create a mess and expect you to clean it up.”
“Dairy Farmers Love The Barbaric Tradition of Stealing Milk from Baby Calves. They also love treating cows like machines.”

This I confess… (without any guilt to “speciesism”) the plight of the dairy cow touches me deeply. Perhaps it was because of them that I became vegan?
In any case… This is a great assortment of valid arguments to be vegan… if not at least “anti-dairy”. In my optimistic moments, I’d like to think that today’s dairy crisis is in part due to a shift in thinking about milk, cheese and butter. That maybe enough people have heard how bad (and unnecessary) they all are… And that this is what’s making the difference in demand for dairy. What a great alternative Rice Dream is to all the negative points of cow’s milk…
