My husband and I met the day the Red Sox won the World Series. We’d been set up by mutual friends because we were both vegetarians.
We married a year later on the same day. We had a vegetarian wedding reception.
Now, just over five years from the day we met, Fenway Park is offering veggie hotdogs and veggie burgers:
Take me out to the ball game – for a veggie Fenway Frank?
In a nod to the team’s burgeoning new fan base, the Red Sox have added vegetarian burgers and hot dogs to the menu at Fenway Park this year.
“Fans are getting more diverse,” said David Freireic, a spokesman for Aramark, the team’s concessionaire. “In an effort to appeal to those various tastes and diets, we recognize the importance of expanding our menu to appeal to everyone.”
Kismet? Maybe.
