Veggie Burgers
A number of people have told me, “I tried veggie burgers but I didn’t like them” When I ask, “Which brands did you try?” and “How did you prepare them?” they often stare at me blankly, assuming there’s only one kind or that they all taste the same.
In reality, there are so many different kinds of veggie burgers these days that you really should try a few varieties to see what you like. You can’t make a rash judgment against all veggie burgers based on your first impression of just one brand and flavor. That’s not fair to all the other veggie burgers. You’ve got to try them all!
Here is a list of current veggie burger options:
BURGERS
Amy’s – California Veggie Burger, Texas Burger, All American Burger
Boca Burgers - vegan options: Organic Vegan, Vegan Original
Don Lee Farms – Veggie Patties available in warehouse stores (like Costco)
Dr. Praeger’s – California Veggie Burgers and Tex Mex Veggie Burgers
Gardenburger – vegan options: GardenVegan, Flame Grilled, Black Bean Chipotle, Veggie Medley, California Burger
Lightlife – Light Burgers
Morningstar Farms – Grillers Vegan, Vegan Burger
Organic Sunshine Burger – Original, Garden, Barbecue, Southwest, Falafel patty
SoyBoy – Okra Courage Burger
Whole Foods “365” – Organic Vegan Veggie Burger
Wildwood Organics – SprouTofu Veggie Burgers in Original, Shiitake and Southwest

Which brands and flavors have you tried? What’s your favorite?
(My favorite is: Sunshine Burger Southwest style on toasted sourdough bread or a wholewheat roll topped with lettuce, a thin slice of juicy red tomato, and Vegenaise or avocado.)

Boca and Morningstar Farms vegan burgers have this disgusting smell that I cannot get rid of, so I refuse to eat them. I have not seen Amy’s or Sunshine Burger but I will try to find them.
I really don’t have a favorite, but I like Nature’s Burger mix with lettuce, tomato, onion and avacado with ketchup and vegan mayo on a toasted burger bun. Yum.
We have eaten Amy’s Bistro, sunshine. We used to eat Morning star, gardenburger, and Boca until I was diagnosed with celiac. I wish Boca and Garden burger would return to a GF brand of veggie burger!
My favorites are the ones that I make myself out of okara left over from soy milk making. I don’t have to worry about hexane left over from processing soybeans, and I can put anything I want in them. Therefore, I have an endless variety of wonderful-tasting burgers.
I like the ones that taste more like veggies than burgers… after not eating beef for so long, having something that tastes and feels like it in my mouth turns me off… I know this is not the case for everyone, so yay for everyone who can eat meat-(and guilt-)free in whatever way they please ^.^
Amy’s makes a gluten free veggie burger which is just great. I just found another gluten free burger and will be tring it as well. I don’t want the “meat” taste since I don’t care for the it. It’s just an easy quick meal for me!

We love the Gardenburger Black bean chipotles, they are great for grilling ! Morningstar vegan Grillers are probably the most traditional style of the bunch, if one is looking for a meaty taste and texture. Boca chik’n patties are also excellent, vegan, and nice for grilling as well, just don’t overcook as they don’t take very long
Though our absolute favorite grilling item is the Field Roast Italian sausages, fantastic flavor, texture, and delicious with grilled peppers & onions.
Everything Field Roast makes is excellent, their “Celebration Roasts” are top notch.
I’m looking for a good vegan burger that has no added oil or nots. I found one made with cocoanut flour (which I can’t have) and another made with sunflower seeds. I understand 365 makes an organic vegan burger with no added oil, so I’m looking into that. If all else fails, I’ll have to try to make them myself.
