Vegan Personal Training?

I’m having a little trouble sticking to my New Year’s resolutions so I’m considering hiring a personal trainer to help get me in gear. I found a company and checked out the website. When I saw “meal plans” (recommended diets) I immediately assumed they wouldn’t have a vegan option and might not even offer a vegetarian option. Unless I specifically sought out a vegan personal traininer, I assumed I’d have no luck finding a trainer who would approve of my veganism.

But to my surprise, they include vegan among their wide range of diet options.

Even just a few years ago vegan diets were excluded from mainstream fitness programs. But nowadays, in part due to veganbodybuilding.com and Thrive Fitness but mostly due to the growing popularity and understanding of veganism, vegan diets are far more accepted in the world of the gym rat.

So what do you think? Should I sign up and see what their program can do for me?

  1. I hired a personal trainer a while ago at a fitness gym. They are very aggressive to get as much money from you as they can. Personally, I wouldn’t hire someone to motivate me because it probably wouldn’t work but that’s just me.

  2. Many respond very well with having a personal trainer. If it is within your budget, I definitely feel this can be worthwhile.

  3. As a personal trainer i can highly reccomend getting one, although one of my clients is a vegan and had to do a good bit of reseach in to making sure she was getting enough of the right proteins.

  4. I’m a personal trainer in the Washington DC area and have had great success on a vegan diet for the last 6 months. I lost 15 pounds of fat! You can certainly get enough protein – tempeh, quinoa, leafy greens, whole grains, nuts and beans are the best. The only supplement I take is a B Complex vitamin. 5. I’ve been a strict vegetarian and a trainer for the past 26 years. I finally put up a website, http://wohlistic.com and will slowly load more and more info not only on maximally effective exercise but optimum vegetarian/vegan diet and wholefood superfood supplementation, including a blog. It will take time.

Anyway, I highly recommend you getting a personal trainer to motivate you and help you realize your fitness and health goals. But all trainers and training services are not created equal. Do your research and find an experienced trainer who also understands your diet and how to gauge it properly to help you realize your goals. That is not as easy as it sounds.

Protein is not a difficult issue at all. That is an old myth. I’ve put on muscle anytime I’ve wanted over the years and still can at almost 43 yrs old. But good protein at the right times is very helpful to gaining strength and muscle.

    Good luck with it!
