Vegan Bites: Vick, Cancer, Engame

Vegan Bites: Vick, Cancer, Engame

Every so often I compile a list of vegan-related links and post them in a list called Vegan Bites. Sometimes there’s a theme, sometimes not.

This is one of those themeless Vegan Bites. The only thing binding all these links and stories together is a vegan respect for animals.

So, let’s get started with the links… Here are your Vegan Bites:

  • Vegan Food: Lazy College Kid’s Falafel recipe here >>
  • Fight Against Vick or Fight For Dogs? Regardless of how you feel about Michael Vick, here are three things you can do to truly help pitbulls NOW >>
  • Veg Food: “Top 10 Faux-Chicken Sandwiches in the U.S. are …” listed here >>
  • Grand Juries: “Think about it, when they start asking you about your friends, their beliefs in direct action, your significant other, your involvement with radical groups, who you associate with, and other personal questions, are you going answer them?” more here >>
  • The Ground Team: “The award-winning documentary, which was inspired by the book, Fifteen Legs, tells the story of heroes who go the extra mile (often thousands of miles) to save the lives of dogs and cats from shelters that kill.” see the clip >>
  • Vegan Food: Easy Vegan Chocolate Cake >>
  • Michael Vick and Meat: “What Vick did is, obviously, senseless and reprehensible. But I believe Vick, as a wealthy and talented athletic superstar who performs his job out in the open before crowds of amped-up and highly opinionated fans, suffers an unfair disadvantage as compared to, say, the heads of a meatpacking plant or the directors of a medical research lab where animals are suffering the cruelest imaginable abuses behind walls and doors that remove them from our sight and, therefore, judgments.” read the rest >>
  • Being Vegan Sucks: “I’m terribly sorry you couldn’t be ‘inconvenienced’ for the sake of the planet, the animals and your fellow human beings. I know how painful it would be to go out and buy a cookbook and learn some new, delicious recipes. [...] You know, being vegan actually doesn’t suck, it’s you who sucks for not being vegan.” read the whole thing >>
  • Animals Matter: “Animals Matter To Me represents the biggest ever global animal welfare initiative, linking the entire animal welfare movement with ONE STRATEGIC GOAL: global recognition that animals are sentient beings, capable of feeling pain and suffering.” more here >>
  • Vegan Food: Plum Cake recipe and photos here >>
  • Animal Experiments: “OHSU is seeking over 15 million dollars to build another primate lab on their Hillsboro “West Campus” and further increase the current census of 4,200 monkeys.” read more from IDA >>
  • Cancer: Vegetarians have a Lower Cancer Rate than Regular Chicken-Eaters.  Read more here >>
  • Endgame: “Of all the species of suicidefoodists, we find the pious, connected-to-Nature types the hardest to stomach. Their artisanal meats! Their eyewitness accounts of slaughter and butchery! The profound connections they imagine with the animals they carve up with reverent knives and forks!” read the review >>
  • More on Cancer: “The World Cancer Research Fund said parents should act now to stop their children developing a taste for processed meat.”  Read the news story here >>
