Joe Biden’s new dog seems to have come from a puppymill: “Brown, of Spring City, who also operates as Jolindy’s German Shepherds, holds a commercial kennel license that allows her to keep more than 250 dogs. She had 84 dogs on the property when the inspection took place on Dec. 10. Biden bought the six-week-old male German Shepherd puppy from the kennel earlier this month.” more >>

Nationwide “Adopt, Don’t Shop!” Day, December 20, 2008: “The Saturday before Christmas is the biggest puppy-buying day of the year. This year, In Defense of Animals is teaming up with activists in dozens of cities around the country to educate the public about the horrors of pet factories (puppy mills) and encourage people to adopt a homeless animal from a shelter or rescue group instead of buying one from a pet store.” more >>
