Three Steps To Veganism
Going vegan seems like a daunting task when you first think about it.
Where do I start? What do I do? How does this all work? Will I be healthy? Will people be supportive? What if I screw up? These are the things you ask yourself. And it all feels so overwhelming. You might think, it’s too hard to go vegan.
But if you know what you’re doing, it’s really as simply as one, two, three.
Step One:
Decide what your priorities are and then make room for them.
That’s the most major component of changing your life for the better, regardless of the change: committing. Whether you’re trying to quit smoking or exercise more, whether you’re trying to write a book or save money… no matter your goals are, successful people always begin the same way: They make achieving their goals a priority.
Think of going vegan in the same way. Sure, there will be obstacles, but you can overcome them if you simply put your mind to it. Sure, there will be difficulties, but you are up to this challenge because you are committed. You are committed to making a difference in your health, or saving animals’ lives or protecting the environment. You are going to succeed!
Step Two:
Find the tools that will help you succeed.
If you need vegan meal plans, get vegan meal plans. If you need travel tips, get travel tips. If you need cooking skills, take a class. If you need recipes, buy a vegan cookbook. If you need a vegan coach or mentor, find a vegan coach or mentor. If you need nutrition info, get nutrition information. If you need to know where to get protein, find out where to get protein. If you need inspiration or motivation, get inspiration or motivation.
Set yourself up for success! Make it easier on yourself by getting the help you need.
Step Three:
Practice, practice, practice.
If you mess up and eat, wear, or do something that’s not vegan, just chalk it up to practice. Don’t flog yourself, dust yourself off and get back on the vegan “horse.” Sometimes doing the right thing takes practice.
This is your life; you’re on your own time frame. Some people go vegan overnight and others do it over the course of decades. It’s all up to you. Just never lose sight of the goal and never give up.
