Three Fantastic Holiday Gifts
If generosity isn’t already a holiday tradition for you, please consider adding that tradition.
There are many excellent charities that can use your donations. And use them well, with little going to administrative costs and most going directly to help animals by promoting veganism.
Here are three options of vegan-themed donation opportunities:

My personal pet project: Veg Billboards for Las Vegas. The billboards will feature a puppy and a piglet and ask, “Why love one but eat the other?” The billboards will include Mercy For Animals’ vegan website, chooseveg.com and the Vegas Veg* website, vegasveg.com. To contribute, please send your checks or money orders to: Vegas Billboards c/o Mercy For Animals at 3712 N. Broadway, Suite 560, Chicago, IL, 60613. Make checks out to: Mercy For Animals and in the notes section, write: “Vegas Billboards.” Or donate online with a credit card: https://www.charity-pay.com/d/donation.asp?CID=22 and in the comments section write “Vegas Billboards.”
Your donation to Vegan Outreach = more vegan educational booklets that are passed out to college students and other people = more vegans and vegetarians = more animals saved. You can make a secure, tax-deductible donation online at veganoutreach.org/donate.html, or send a check or money order to: Vegan Outreach at PO Box 30865, Tucson, AZ 85751-0865.
Compassion Over Killing (COK) is a nonprofit animal advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C. Working to end animal abuse since 1995, COK focuses on cruelty to animals in agriculture and promotes vegetarian eating as a way to build a kinder world for all of us, both human and nonhuman. Share your holiday spirit with the animals. With your gift of $100 or more towards our matching campaign, COK will send you a free box of decadent, dairy-free chocolate. Elaine, sorry for the OT comment but I saw your comment at Blogging L.A. under Sean Bonner’s post with reference to finding a vegan-friendly pediatrician in Las Vegas.
I just switched over to a new personal physician here in Summerlin, who is also a pediatrician. He is a very open-minded, well-loved doc who has been practicing in Vegas for several years and I would not be surprised if he is vegan-friendly (He endorses medical marijuana for certain patients, as an indicator of how progressive he is).
His name is Dr. Victor Bruce and his practice is Swanlake Medical Center at Hualapai and Desert Inn in Summerlin. Ph: 702-765-5253; if you need more details, feel free to e-mail me.

Thanks, Rodger. I may call that doctor. However, we live on the other side of town so it might not make much sense for us to go so far. Thanks again for trying to help me out
Not a problem, Elaine. I’ve discovered in the last two years that Vegas is a tough town to make friends and acquaintances in so I’m always pleased to help out a fellow local and perhaps, in the process, create friends and associates.
I’m a transplanted Angeleno, by the way, my girlfriend and I sort of got stuck here when the recession hit (we are both freelancers), after arriving in Southern Nevada from California in November ‘07 to care for my terminally ill mother.
