The Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) has announced the best and worst places to abuse animals in 2007 in the US.
“This report, the only one of its kind in the nation, is based on a detailed comparative analysis of the animal protection laws of each jurisdiction, researching fourteen distinct categories of provisions throughout more than 2,800 pages of statutes. The ranking groups states into a top, middle or bottom tier, and includes a listing of the best five and worst five states.”
The states the ALDF claims have the most legal protections for animals are: California, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Oregon.
The states the ALDF claims have the least legal protections for animal are: Arkansas, Alaska, Kentucky, North Dakota, Utah.
