Stupid Things Omnivores Say: My Ancestors Ate Meat So I Should Too
“I am thankful for meat eaters, as they are my ancestors, and I wouldn’t be here if they didn’t survive by eating meat!”
I’m a white American. It’s likely some of my ancestors owned slaves. Does that mean I should own slaves now?
My dad had seven children. If he didn’t have at least six children, I wouldn’t be here now. Does that mean I should have seven children?
My friend’s dad drove drunk all the time when he was in his twenties and nothing ever happened. Does that mean my friend should drive drunk?
My primate ancestors likely flung their poo and had sex in public. Does that mean I should fling my poo and have sex in public?
The past is the past for a reason. Live in the present.
Presently, most meat comes from animal agribusiness that not only treat the animals unfairly, they also spread human disease and cause massive pollution. It’s not good for your health, it’s not good for the planet, and it’s terrible for animals.
Let’s make sure future generations will be able to say, “My ancestors made the right choice to go vegan so that I could be here now.”

Let’s also not forget that the fire necessary for eating animals larger than a grasshopper is a human invention. Our earliest ancestors, as with the great apes, ate mostly plants and bugs. It wasn’t until humans controlled fire that animals were eaten more regularly. It was a matter of survival then, as they didn’t have much agricultural capability. Nowadays eating meat is gluttony and just stupid.
Omnivore is something of a misnomer, as humans can’t eat raw animal flesh for very long without getting sick. I think any herbivore, as with humans, could eat cooked animal flesh. But we also know that even cooked animal flesh leads to long term disease.

Eloquently said (as usual) Bravo….
That was so funny! One of my new hobbies is to find opportunities to laugh out loud and this little piece did just that for me. Thank you!!! For the animals and the people who care about all of them, Kate ox
Perfect. Just perfect.
This is great and so true! I am sick of hearing..” we use to do it in the old days and it worked!” Get with the 21st century and if the things that people worked were so great for all those years, we wouldn’t have the planet in the shape it is in, the health problems that we have and the human race the way it is. It’s been proven that people who don’t eat meat are healthier. Leave the poor innocent animals alone who are probably sick to death of us bothering them.
