And if you haven’t seen the video yet, here it is:

i couldn’t watch it. i hang my head in shame. sorry.
I am never eating meat again. After seeing this ill be way to disgusted to even consider it.
I will never look at a piece of meat the same way again. I have to say though that I like meat too much too give it up.
You guys HAVE to read Michael Pollen’s books, and Fast Food Nation for a start….
Where in the hell does this go on at!!!
why sould we care about animals when we don´t even care about humans in other countries getting killed every day
daniel, do you eat the flesh or wear the skins of humans in other countriess? Can you prevent their suffering by making easy choices?
That’s why vegan is the right choice.
Furthermore, veganism helps humans, too. Choosing to eat and wear plants is better for the environment, which benefits all humans and future humans too. Choosing a plant-based diet is also better for your health.
I got six minutes in and threw up. Nothing has ever disturbed me enough to make me puke before, and this really freaks the living hell outta me. I can believe these “standard practices” are legal!
omg,,this is sadly to see ,,, these people has no souls… i never tought about stop eating meat, but this video is so sick,,,,poor animals,, and i mean poor animals,,,they killed and us we eat,,, disgusting
I have been a vegetarian for over a year.. and having just started a vegan diet. Anyone that can eat meat after watching this is evil and has no heart, and honestly should deserve to be treated in this way also.
this is so f-cking horrible
I’m confused. Who’s more responsible here, the meat companies or the consumer? Is it “unethical” to kill animals for food or is it unethical to eat animals that have been killed for food. Is it the torture that’s the real problem or is it just that the animals are dying? Wouldn’t it make more sense to shut down the companies that treat animals unethically than to attempt to disgust or shame the consumer out of eating meat? Why weren’t any of the companies, practicing these methods, exposed? To be really effective wouldn’t it make sense to let the consumers know what companies were guilty so a more informative decision can be made?
@Eccentric Vegan – So I dont look like a bafoon when quoting you, can you support this statement with a few facts? “Choosing to eat and wear plants is better for the environment”. If I’m wearing and eating exclusively plants…arent I in effect contributing to the destruction of the environment? On another note why would anyone have an emotional attachment to one type of food over another and where’s the line? I watched the video right up until “Poultry”, and stopped. I just had enough, I fast forwarded it near the end and to my surprise, no names were dropped except for Mercy for Animals and ChooseVeg.com Where’s the dairies and the slaughter houses? What good are “under cover agents” if the perps still walk? Where’s the pressure groups?
TOWM: You ask a lot of good questions. Let me answer a few here quickly.
Q: “Wouldn’t it make more sense to shut down the companies that treat animals unethically than to attempt to disgust or shame the consumer out of eating meat?”
A: The strategy is to expose animal agriculture cruelty not only to change consumer behavior but also to change/enforce law.
Q:”Why weren’t any of the companies, practicing these methods, exposed?”
A: They have been. The video you watched above is a compilation of many investigations. Many of the investigations resulted in criminal penalties. For example, MFA’s investigation at Buckeye Veal Farm prompted Ohio decision-makers to vote in favor of a veal crate phase-out in the state. Here’s a link to the MFA investigations where you can read about the outcomes: http://mercyforanimals.org/investigations.aspx
Q: “If I’m wearing and eating exclusively plants…arent I in effect contributing to the destruction of the environment?”
A: Plants are the food source for many animals. Food must be grown and harvested to feed animals raised to become food and/or clothing. So if you eat and wear animals who were raised for food and/or clothing, you are in essence consuming both the plants and the animals, which is more wasteful than consuming purely the plants.
Q: “To be really effective wouldn’t it make sense to let the consumers know what companies were guilty so a more informative decision can be made?”
A: Whenever an investigation is done, the details are given. See the link above of the MFA investigations. The Farm to Fridge video is a comilation of many investigations. The compilation simply makes the point that animal abuse is so rampant in modern animal agriculture that it’s systemic. The system requires a significant decrease in overall consumption of animal products in order to have room to change. For example, at the current rate of consumption the slaughter line moves too quickly to allow for the type of “humane” slaughter most consumers would prefer. “Humane meat” is simply not an option until the consumption rates drop.
I totally agree with “The Other White Meat commented on Aug 4th, 2011 at 12:45″
What is wrong here, is not people eating meat, but the way some or all, i am not in the position to know, companies treating animals that way. The stupid bastard with the pitchfork, the man who punches the small cub to death, the people who hang the pig…and many more in the video… all that is totally unnecessary for God sake. They must be mentally ill. That’s not proper procedures for God sake!!!! Ok meat production, but why the suffering?
Animals are part of this planet just as we. We can’t treat them like that. At least make it painless! And RESPECT them.
Last comment… Does anyone have any idea how clean these slaughter houses/farms are? My toilet would be cleaner !!!!! have mercy, respect the animals. They are the reason people exist today!
