And it’s not even Halloween yet.

“First, American International Group (AIG) received $85 billion from the Federal Reserve last month in order to stay afloat … and then they reportedly treated their top agents to a $440,000 week at a fancy-schmancy spa. Investigators were not impressed. [...]

“And then AIG reportedly spent $86,000 on a hunting trip.”

The next time someone says something like,

“If everyone just stopped eating meat, the massive meat industry would come to a screeching halt, which is not good for the economy. And if the economy fails, that’s going to be a bigger issue for most people than helping the planet.”

(which is a common omni excuse used to justify unethical animal-eating behavior while conveniently ignoring the ethical duty to refrain from harming animals) I’m going to remind them of this. I’m going to remind them who is usually at fault when the economy tumbles - the ones who take advantage of the weak.

Might does not make right. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

It’s a whole new take on ‘predatory lenders.’

This has to be one the stupidest excuses I’ve come across, right after “plants feel pain, too”; after all, all those ex-meat eaters will still have to eat SOMETHING, right? Meat-related jobs won’t disappear, they’ll shift: from farming/processing animals to farming/processing veggies. Like, duh!

  2. Good point, Kelly. It stands to reason that capitalists don’t care what they sell, so long as they are generating profit: Tyson, if forced to stop exploiting chickens, would merely move onto another food source or profit producing item.
