Oprah Is Going Vegan For 21 Days

Oprah is going vegan for 21 days!

I’m going to write a letter to Oprah telling her about my veganism. I’m going to tell her about how much good her 21 days will do for the animals, the earth, and her health. I’m going to encourage her to stay vegan. And I’m going to suggest that she invite vegan guests onto her show.

Care to do the same? That’d be fantastic!

  1. That sounds like a great idea.. Do you just go to her website and write her that way?

  2. This is an increadibly exciting time! I have been speaking with Erik Marcus who is the author of the blog vegan.com, and he is seizing this opportunity and putting all his efforts into supporting Oprah’s 21-day vegan challenge. He will be posting DAILY VegTalk podcasts on vegan.com for the next 21 days with tips and ideas and inspiration for all those new to veganism!

I hope that Oprah remains vegan well past her 21 day trial, but in the event that she doesnt, this is a really CRITICAL (and short) period for vegan advocates!

Makes me smile :) They even posted a video of Oprah enjoying a vegan lunch with the executive producers!

  3. That video is pretty cute. “I never thought a lunch of hummus would make me this happy!” Ha!

No matter the ultimate outcome for Oprah, I think it’s great that she’s giving veganism a try and, more importantly, sharing this information with the millions of viewers and web site users, many of whom will be transformed beyond the 21 days.

The recipes on Oprah.com seem delicious

Yes, that’s what I did. Here is the link:

  5. Oprah wrote this:

Wow, wow, wow! I never imagined meatless meals could be so satisfying. I had been focused on what I had to give up—sugar, gluten, alcohol, meat, chicken, fish, eggs, cheese. “What’s left?” I thought. Apparently a lot. I can honestly say every meal was a surprise and a delight, beginning with breakfast—strawberry rhubarb wheat-free crepes. — Oprah

Obviously, she has a wonderful advantage of having chefs prepare foods for her, but I think her sentiment echos what many of us feel - veganism hasn’t closed off any doors for us, it’s opened up doors.

  6. I sent this to my Mom, an Oprah lover, in hope that she’ll finally take me seriously instead of plugging her pseudo-enlightened ears. Rock on Oprah.
