LUSH Celebrates World Vegan Day

Though LUSH sells nothing but vegetarian and vegan products, the company estimates about 80 percent of its 824 employees are meat-eaters. Still, the company’s shop assistants, managers, directors and owners have agreed to go meatless for a day, as well as dropping dairy and evading the edible egg.” (source)

I think that’s a great way to celebrate World Vegan Day, tomorrow, November 1st.

  1. Cutting back on your meat intake is a great weekly way to improve your health also. I work for a non-profit public health campaign called Meatless Mondays, which takes a medical spin on it. The mission of Meatless Mondays is to reduce American’s meat intake by 15% thus reducing an individual’s chances of getting heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes. Unlike Lush, active participants of the Meatless Monday campaign still are allowed to have egg and dairy products on Monday (although there is a great vegan Creamy Pumpkin Soup recipe featured last week!)

Reducing your meat by 15% can be achieved just by cutting meat out of your diet one day per week (we encourage Mondays, hence the name.) If anyone is interested in healthy, affordable, tasty meatless recipes, I suggest you log-on to http://www.meatlessmonday.com. We’re affiliated with John’s Hopkins Medical School, so it can also be a great resource for health articles and tips.
