Lame Duck, Lame Turkeys, And Lame Press Conferences

From Striking at the Roots:

In a letter dispatched to the President Bush, PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk asks him to send this turkey year’s “pardoned” turkeys, Pumpkin and Pecan, to a proper Washington, D.C.–area sanctuary rather than to Disneyland or a working farm, where pardoned turkeys are traditionally sent and where they usually die from their painful genetic defects within the first year — or even within days of arrival.

“You might be a lame duck,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in a letter to Bush, “but you still have the power to help lame turkeys.”

Despite the President’s refusal to TRULY pardon a turkey, at least his demonstration was a bit more pleasant than Sarah Palin’s. (Click here to see her’s.)

  1. Thanks for blogging this! PETA spoke a bit on the subject as well, which you can find here: http://blog.peta.org/archives/2008/11/sarah_palin.php and here: http://blog.peta.org/archives/2008/11/even_a_lame_duc.php
