It’s Official: The Media Ignores The Meat Connection
Roni Neff and her team at the Johns Hopkins School of Health have just completed a study on how much coverage the media has given to the connection between livestock production and climate change. In this article in Grist, Neff talks about how little print is given to the meat connection. The study tracked newspaper articles (as representative of the media in general) that discuss climate change and how many of them mention livestock production. The high number is 2.4%.
The message in the Grist interview is that we all can help by just eating less meat. There is an inherent assumption that most people will find moving to vegetarianism or veganism just too hard and I suppose that for most people there is indeed a block - mainly because they are asked to do so to help the planet, not to help animals.
The short article links to the study itself as well as to other sites of interest. The Johns Hopkins Meatless Monday campaign site is one you can send to your diehard meateating friends. Not to mention it has some yummy recipes on it.

“diehard meateating friends”
Well put. They will die hard.
