Ingrid Newkirk Interviewed By Stephen Colbert
Here’s Ingrid Nerkirk from PETA on The Colbert Report:
I think she did a pretty good job. What do you think?
vegan: person who seeks to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose.
soapbox: platform used to make impromptu or unofficial public speeches.
Here’s Ingrid Nerkirk from PETA on The Colbert Report:

She said she thinks we all should be vegetarian. She should have said vegan. But at least she didn’t try to push happy meat.
As far as promoting veganism (or vegetarianism, I guess), I think the interview really missed the mark. But to be fair to Newkirk, I think it was more the doing of Colbert than her. He didn’t really allow the interview to go anywhere meaningful.
I’ve already mentioned this on the PPK, but I do believe that Newkirk and Peta in general need to hire some better PR experts to get their message across better! I’m sure most non-vegans will be horrified at her suggestion that her flesh be cooked up and served to unsuspecting meat-eaters… but it’s still cool to see people like her being interviewed in the first place, I guess.
I agree Al, but I bet she used the word vegetarian because lots of people don’t know what vegan is.
bazu, I’m not sure. I think PETA knows what they’re doing and they play bad cop so other organizations can play good cop.
I was very surprised that she went on The Colbert Report. I hope her book gets “the Colbert bump”
