Have It Your Way

“You are not going to influence anybody’s consumption choices by turning food into an issue of politics and privilege. Nobody likes being berated. Especially during mealtime.”

Funny. I seem to remember some group of people who do actually enjoy being berated. They’re called masochists.

But there’s some truth that some people won’t be influenced by some methods of activism. So…

Take your pick. You can hear it the nice way or the not as nice way. And you can listen to it any time you want, it’s up to you. Watch it before dinner or wait til after. Have it your way.

The nice way:

The not as nice way:

Either way, the truth is, eating animals is wrong.

  1. I was convinced by the not-so nice way, and I thank P.E.T.A. for that :) It’s interesting, a conversation becomes “berating me” when the issue concerns eating meat, but not when it concerns accepting the equality of all ethnicities, for example. Even though both discourses essentially happen within the same ethical framework or follow from the same premises about suffering and taking interests seriously.
