Fur Confrontations: Effective?
Here’s a video from The Discerning Brute. What do you think, is this effective?
Part of me says “yes” and part of me says “no.”
The yes part:
- By making it about fashion it seems to disarm people
- The Discerning Brute is very fashionable and everyone knows it
- He uses humor. As SuperVegan’s Jason says, “He plays it a little dumb and very friendly, but doesn’t go full-on Bruno or anything.”
- The people shown in the video wearing fur probably feel shamed (and shame can be a powerful motivator)
The no part:
- People just make excuses and ignore what the Brute says

He’s hilarious. I live in NYC and it’s really hard to walk around seeing all this in winter. I wish I had his nerve.

It’s amazing how people justify their sickness. Stupidity. How can we reach humanity with the joyous news of the Vegan lifestyle when their brains are so slurred and desensitized towards all the disgusting foods they eat and the animals they wear? It’s a load of garbage.
Oh, and I just about died laughing when you said, “What’s it like to have a cold heart and a warm neck?” Truly epic.
There are better ways to get your point across than by mocking people walking down the street. It would be equally obnoxious if someone interrupted you and started quizzing you on what the batteries from your electronics are doing to the environment.
