Examples Of Misozoony, Hatred Of Animals
Misozoony (n): hatred of nonhuman animals.
Misozoony is parallel to misogyny, the hatred of women. Like misogyny, misozoony is prevalent. There are many examples of behaviors that can easily be interpreted as hatred.
Some examples of misozoony:
- Breeding, imprisoning, killing, and butchering nonhuman animals for food
- Breeding, imprisoning, killing, and butchering nonhuman animals for clothing
- Breeding, imprisoning, killing, and butchering nonhuman animals for entertainment or adventure
- Breeding, imprisoning, killing, and butchering nonhuman animals for medicine or science
- Breeding, imprisoning, and killing nonhuman animals for companionship
- Breeding, imprisoning, killing, and butchering nonhuman animals in the name of stewardship or religion
- Trapping, harassing, and killing nonhuman animals because they’re deemed pests
- Trapping, harassing, and killing nonhuman animals because they’re fur/skin/meat/tusks/blubber is economically valuable
- Poisoning nonhuman animals (both intentionally because they’re deemed pests and unintentionally by poisoning their habitat or prey)
- Trapping and torturing nonhuman animals for entertainment, science, or any other purpose
- Paying someone to breed, imprison, kill, and butcher nonhuman animals for food, clothing, science, companionship or any other purpose
- Paying someone to trap and torture nonhuman animals for entertainment, science, or any other purpose
