Esty Goes Vegan

Esty Goes Vegan

For those of you unfamiliar, Etsy is kind of like an eBay for cottage industry. People sell homemade products, many of which are completely amazing. Generally, a visit to Etsy makes me wish I had a better paying job.

A search for ‘vegan’ on Etsy brings up tons of products, from candles to soap to vegan chicken to make-up, but you can also find adorable home decor items, clothing, and other odds and ends that are vegan and just not advertised that way. For example, this adorable linen tote bag? I’m drooling right now.

Here are a couple other things I have my eye on.

Lavender Ylang-ylang Natural Room Spray
Alex’s OCD means air freshener is a must. They also make several other fragrances.

Zukzuk Cow Print
This is just such a cool piece of art. Weird, but cool.

Oatmeal Raisin Vegan Creamies
Yuuuuum.

How I Get My…. Books
A cute series of little books containing vegan/vegetarian ways to get iron, calcium and protein. Much easier than a long drawn out verbal explanation.

  1. Thanks for posting this. I have to check out the “How I Get My…” books. Sounds cute.

I just ordered reusable produce bags from etsy at http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12128734
    or http://fabrik.etsy.com

Although I’ve been using totes for my groceries for years, I still used plastic bags to bring home fruits and veggies. These reusable drawstring bags come in 3 different sizes and are machine washable. I love them!

And one day I will order plates and mugs from Vegan Dish: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5149946

  2. I love reusable bags! I get some from reusablebags.com and at various physical stores but I bet the etsy bags are cuter :)

  3. This is a great blog for vegan Etsy vendors:
    http://www.veganetsy.blogspot.com/

    Here’s their mission statement:
“We are an etsy team made up of vegans that maintain completely vegan shops. Many of us give a percentage of our sales to animal charities. Our focus is on promoting buying handmade items, supporting vegans and spreading vegan awareness.”

Occasionally they will put together a vegan treasury - a whole page of about twelve vegan items - jewelry, clothes, food(mmmm)that is very fun.

Also, the Vegan Etsy group will have fundraising days, where the vendors agree to donate their profits to a specific farmed animal sanctuary or some other animal-friendly charity.

The search term for vegan Etsy cooperative members is “Veganetsy Team”. Or just go their blog and check out the blogroll.

And for the record, I am not an Etsy vendor! I just buy from them.

  4. I forgot all about Vegan Dish! I covet the blue bowl with the cursive writing.

And those bags are perfect for the slightly OCD person living in our house. I’ll give you a hint - it’s not me.
