Do We Really Need To Kill Animals To Live?
Time Magazine ask, “What if you could cut into a juicy chicken breast that wasn’t chicken at all but rather some indistinguishable imitation made harmlessly from plant life?”
The story begins:
The desire to eat meat has posed an ethical question ever since humans achieved reliable crop production: Do we really need to kill animals to live? Today, the hunger for meat is also contributing to the climate-change catastrophe. The gases from all those chickens and pigs and cows, and from the manure lagoons that big farms create, are playing a part in global warming. So the idea of fake meat has never been more alluring.

“Do We Really Need To Kill Animals To Live?”
No of course not. Such a pointless demonstration. and this is a good example of yellow journalism, no content, no depth, nothing realistic or engaging about the article, just a bunch of corny one-dimensional propaganda and unfortunate, vapid sermonizing.
veejay, are you intentionally demoralizing
or
are you just generally depressed about the seemingly insurmountable task of ending animal suffering that your pessimism seeps through into your comments?
Hi Eccentric Vegan. the second.
i was answering the question, as i would in any normal situation, sometimes you got to twist things around for it to make sense for everybody.
but then i noticed something…
oh sorry, it’s obviously emotional bleedthrough on my part, purely unintentional it takes me at least two or three times to make it through an animal cruelty video… usually my heart just sinks and i mouse-click my way out of there.
as per the other, i was just making what i thought were “standard” complaints at the mass media and how they tend to bungle even simple, straightforward stories, and tails of events, that is always applying that “look ma no hands” microscope and never looking at any issue in any sort of depth, nevermind the “other side” so to speak.
“pointless demonstration” shouldn’t everyone be on a peace march or something. sorry if i offended or overreacted here, that was not my intention.
i’m just trying to imagine how badly that mass media outlet in particular “butchered” that story.
OK, thanks for clarifying.
veejayblox,
what are you babbling about?
We really should stop killing animals for consumption. They are God’s creatures just as much as we are.
