MeatingPlace posted an inflamatory critique of Chipotle. Wouldn't you know it --- most of the comments are from "farmers" who now see their operations as "traditional" and are against Chipotle's "new" management system. It's like a world turned inside out: " It's time the traditional agr. groups spend more time informing their members of these type of companies that are not only segregating themselves with their many misleading definitions, but are now also intentionally defaming traditional producers by spreading misinformation. We should call for boycotts, etc. Some of their methods are not "sustainable" or more "humane"----that's why we moved to confinement! We have to stop letting them totally define these words to reflect what they are trying to do for a market segmentation and marketing program. " Warehouses that confine thousands of animals is now the "standard"...? And the "old McDonald" *happy* image is a threat! But the director of Food, Inc Robert Kenner and the co-producer Eric Schlosser have criticized Chipotle for it's failure to fully address the exploitation of farmworkers in Florida who pick tomatoes bought by the company.
