Another PETA Success

A North Carolina laboratory has stopped doing research and is surrendering all of its animals a week after an undercover video showed what activists allege were workers cruelly treating dogs, cats and rabbits [...] The developments came after People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals released a video of conditions at the laboratory.

  1. I was very happy to hear about this. I know many vegans don’t like PETA, but hey, over 200 animals were rescued in this case and that’s good news indeed.
.-= So I’m Thinking Of Going Vegan´s last blog ..peas please =-.

  2. Oh this is wondeful! Like “So I’m Thinking Of Going Vegan” said, a lot of vegans don’t like PETA, but I feel you have to give credit were credit is do, so nice work PETA for shutting them down. Personally I’ll support anyone who is trying to help the animals get the rights and treatment they deserve.

  3. I’m of two minds on this kind of story.

    1. I’m happy that these animals were rescued and that a lab with terrible conditions was shut down.

    2. Unfortunately, it’s not really getting at the root of the problem. This lab was hired by pharmaceutical companies to test products. So those companies still need their products tested and this lab shutting down just means animals in other labs will be tested. There’s no real net gain in terms of animal suffering except maybe other labs have slightly better conditions.

But like Abbey said, credit where credit is due, good for PETA for at least getting this footage to show the public.
