3 Great Vegan Podcasts
If you learn about veganism online from blogs, wikis, and web forums, you’ll probably enjoy listening to podcasts from vegans, too.
With that in mind, here are a few vegan podcasts, all of which offer unique perspectives, experiences, and senses of humor:
VeganFreak Radio - http://veganfreakradio.com/
VeganFreaks is a popular podcast by Bob Torres and Jenna Torres. They’re a vegan couple living in northern New York state. They write and talk about vegan issues in a humorous way. They do a great job of keeping the podcast interesting and informative.
One warning: their show is not suitable for children or anyone offended by strong language.
Vegan Radio - http://veganradio.com/
From their website:
“Vegan Radio is a show about vegan culture; animal rights issues, the vegan diet, the vegan lifestyle, and the greater relationships to environmentalism, spirituality, politics, and salsa dancing. Show hosts are Megan Shackelford from Oh Sweet Mama’s Vegan Bakery and Derek Goodwin, creator of Veganica, and Scott Lahteine, our resident renaissance geek.”
Go Vegan with Bob Linden - http://www.goveganradio.com/
Linden’s tagline is: “Love animals? Don’t eat them! Love your children? Don’t feed them animals!”
“GO VEGAN with BOB LINDEN” is food for thought…Think about it…How can you help your family prevent America’s tragic #1 killers - heart disease, cancer, stroke, arthritis, diabetes…and the coming plague of incurable and fatal Mad Cow Disease which could come from your kid’s next bite of a burger or steak…Don’t be one of the 70 million food poisonings in the U.S. this year…How can you save Mother Earth from deforestation, global warming, depletion of natural resources including precious water, wars over oil, soil erosion and desertification…How can you end world hunger…How can we diminish suffering and violence in the world today…How do we attain peace…THE ANSWERS ARE HERE!!! “GO VEGAN”!!! Live like Buddha, Jesus, DaVinci, Gandhi, Paul McCartney, and the hundreds of thousands worldwide who are waking up and Going VEGAN - for life!
All three podcasts are available from itunes. You can visit their websites for direct links or you can search itunes for “vegan”.

As a vegan for 7 years, and a person who has listened to many podcasts, vegan and otherwise, I can say that Vegan Freak is one of the absolute WORST! I have few times before heard someone so caught up in themselves and they break the cardinal rule when trying to attract non-vegans to veganism….self-righteousness. They are not the best example for a vegan.

I didn’t know that was the cardinal rule…
I break it all the time.
Actually, I don’t think they consider their podcast an attempt to convert non-vegans. I think they consider it more for vegans than for non-vegans. I think it’s support and humor for vegans.
But of course, we’re all different and have varied sensibilities. I think these three podcasts represent some of that variety. Go Vegan with Bob Linden is very different from Vegan Radio which is very different from VeganFreak Radio. I think there’s room for all of us.

Just one point-of-view.
However, humorous and supportive I find them not. Pointless, immature and not entertaining, those apply.
Bob Linden seems to re-hash the same thing each time I have heard him. I usually fall asleep before he says “hello” in 500 languages.
I don’t remember listening to Vegan Radio although I am sure I have.
I used to download podcasts a few years back to listen to during yardwork and went through so many. I think the most trying thing to overcome for me was the unprofessionalism most embodied. People could never get their levels right, dead silence in the middle of a cast and talking with a mouthful of spit are ones that stand out. I’m not trying to be overly critical, I really wished there was a podcast out there that I found interesting enough to hold me.

Try compassionatecooks.com. Colleen Patrick-Goudreau is incredible well versed in vegan literature, and because of her I read Slaughterhouse and The China Study. I’ve listened to other vegan podcasts, but her podcast has a lot of useful information. I even learned how to cook beans from her podcast, and make a simple hummus.
I listened to Vegan Freak only once because it seems the speakers are on the defensive. Life’s too short to get into an argument with a podcast. Actually, the husband didn’t let the wife talk much.
Maria, Thanks for recommending Compassionate Cooks/ Food For Thought. Their podcast is here:

It’s not just about cooking and eating, either, which is great, in my opinion.
I love listening to Vegan Freaks. Bob is really funny.
