2008 New Year’s Resolution: Go Vegan!

PETA’s Bruce Friedrich wrote a piece in the Huffington Post about going vegan or vegetarian for the New Year. Bruce says,

“If you know someone who has had a heart attack or suffers from heart problems[...] buy them Dr. Esselstyn’s book, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, which details his work at the top heart clinic in the world, The Cleveland Clinic. He covers both the skepticism of his colleagues, and also his 100 percent success taking people with advanced stages of heart disease, people who were told by their cardiologists that they were going to die, and stopping the disease in its tracks and even, in most instances, reversing it . The book will change, and perhaps save, their life.”

Among the reasons given are these ten reasons from the PETA website. They’re listed here, in the order from best to least best:

  1. It’s the Best Way to Help Animals
  2. Help Feed The World
  3. Save The Planet
  4. A Healthier, Happier You
  5. Meat Is Gross
  6. Vegetarian Food Is Delicious
  7. All The Cool Kids Are Doing It
  8. Pigs Are Smart
  9. Slim Down While Feeling Good
  10. Look Sexy and Be Sexy
